Frequently asked questions

FAQ — Shima Lumen Gallery

Answers about original art, framing, commissions, shipping, payments and artwork care.

Is this an original artwork?

Artwork pages identify whether a work is an original. When an artwork is marked Original Artwork, it is the physical work described on that page.

Is there only one available?

Works marked One of One are unique originals. Availability is confirmed when payment is completed.

Is the artwork signed?

When the artwork record is marked Signed by Artist, the work is signed by Shima.

Does it include a Certificate of Authenticity?

When shown on the artwork page, a Certificate of Authenticity is included with the original artwork.

Is the artwork framed?

Each artwork page shows the presentation options available for that specific work, including frameless, rolled-canvas or floating-frame choices where offered.

Can I choose a different frame?

If alternative frames are enabled for the artwork, you can compare them on the artwork page before checkout.

Can I commission a similar artwork?

Yes. The Commissions page is the best place to describe the subject, mood, size and other details you would like Shima to consider.

Can Shima create a custom size?

Custom dimensions can be requested through the commission enquiry form. The gallery will confirm feasibility, timing and pricing before work begins.

How do commissions work?

Submit a commission enquiry first. The gallery reviews the brief and then confirms scope, timing, pricing and any deposit before the commission is formally confirmed.

How is artwork packaged?

Packaging is selected for the artwork and presentation type. Framed works and rolled canvases require different handling, and the gallery will prepare the work for its chosen delivery method.

Do you ship within Australia?

Yes. Free standard delivery applies throughout Australia. Estimated delivery is generally 3–7 business days for unframed artworks and 6–10 business days when framing is selected. Paid Express delivery is shown only where supported.

Do you ship internationally?

International purchasing remains available for eligible artworks and destinations. International delivery is paid and calculated at checkout; it is not included in the free Australian standard-delivery offer. Destination customs, duties or taxes may also apply.

Is delivery tracked?

Tracking details are shown when the gallery records the carrier and tracking number. Shipment records also track the declared value, transit-cover amount/status and any claim reference.

Is shipping insured?

Your artwork is carefully packed and shipped with appropriate transit protection. The gallery records the transit-cover arrangement for each courier shipment and avoids claiming that every parcel is insured unless that service is operationally guaranteed.

What happens if artwork arrives damaged?

Contact the gallery promptly and keep the artwork and all packaging. The gallery will guide you through the next steps and any information needed to assess the delivery issue.

How long does delivery take?

For Australian orders, estimated delivery is generally 3–7 business days for unframed artworks and 6–10 business days when framing is selected. The artwork page shows an estimated arrival range, and Express/international timing depends on the supported courier service.

Can I collect from the studio?

Studio pickup is available by appointment where shown at checkout. Wait for the Ready for pickup email and coordinate your arrival with the gallery before travelling.

What payment methods are accepted?

Secure online payment is processed by Stripe. Available card and wallet methods can vary by device, location and Stripe configuration.

How should I care for my artwork?

Avoid sustained direct sunlight, damp walls and unstable humidity. Handle the work carefully and contact the gallery if you need advice about hanging or long-term care.

What is the return window?

A return request must be submitted within 7 days from confirmed delivery. Please wait for gallery approval and instructions before sending the artwork back.

Who pays return shipping?

If the return is due to gallery error, transit damage or the artwork being materially not as described, the gallery arranges or pays the approved return shipping. For change of mind, return shipping is customer-paid.

How should I pack an approved return?

Use the original packaging where possible, protect the artwork surface, corners, frame and glazing, do not attach labels or adhesive directly to the artwork or frame, seal the package securely and use only the gallery-approved tracked return service. The gallery may request packing photos before dispatch.

When is a refund processed?

A refund is processed only after the returned artwork has physically arrived at the gallery and has been inspected. A return label or tracking number alone does not trigger a refund.

Can a studio-pickup order be returned?

Eligible studio-pickup returns are handled by prior arrangement and do not require courier return shipping.
